Platte Point Plover Spotted In Cuba

According to the Facebook page of the Great Lakes Piping Plover Recovery Effort, a female piping plover that usually breeds at Platte Point in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was spotted in Cuba over the winter months by birders J. Private Companies Operating In Sleeping Bear

As the popularity of the Sleeping Bear Dunes as a vacation destination continues to rise, so opens the door to private companies looking to offer experiences inside the park that the National Park Service cannot. From yoga classes to scattering ashes, there are 21 businesses now operating within the boundaries of the Lakeshore, according to a report this month in the Traverse City Record Eagle.
